COVID-19 – Updated Procedures

Due to the increase in patients visiting the office, and the rise in Covid-19 cases in the Houston area, we are again modifying our procedures at PTC to assure the safety of our patients, their families, our therapists and office staff. In addition to our enhanced cleaning and “virtual” waiting room we will begin to implement the following procedures:

1. When you arrive at PTC your child’s first therapist of the day will take their temperature with a non-contact thermometer and ask you if everyone in the family is well and if they have been exposed to anyone who has tested positive to Covid-19. This will be documented in your child’s daily treatment note. If your answer to our question is “yes” or your child exhibits a temperature of 100 degrees or higher your child will be sent home and all therapies cancelled for the day. We will need to have clearance from your pediatrician or other physician, in writing, before your child returns to therapy.

2. Parents of children over 1 year of age will not be allowed into the building with the exception of caretakers who are required to provide help with the child’s food via G-tube, administer essential medications required during therapy time, provide oxygen support, administer suctioning or assist with behavior management. This caretaker could be a parent if they meet the above criteria. These caretakers will be encouraged to wear masks. Exceptions will be made so a parent can come in briefly with their child to assist with toileting before and/or after therapy sessions. If you believe you should be exempt from this new guideline discuss the details with your therapist in order to get clarification regarding your specific case.
Only one parent of children under the age of one may accompany them into the therapy sessions with the exception of the initial evaluation during which both parents may be present.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we navigate this ever-changing environment. Pediatric Therapy Center is proud to continue providing the essential treatments and services your child needs, and we will continue to do our best to keep your child healthy and safe while they are in office. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.
